Idaho is home to Sun Valley – the most famous, historic ski resort in the country. Sun Valley is the “original,” home of the world’s first chairlift in the country, on Dollar Mountain in 1936. This is the resort that produced so many Olympians and invented the ski week concept as movie stars, musicians, skaters and skiers arrived by train for days of winter play.

I have been skiing Sun Valley since I was a year old. It is just that kind of place that once you start going its hard to break the habit. There is something so romantic about the town, the mountain, and the resort...the way Baldy gracefully looms above quiet town below. Or now from the deck on the new Dollar lodge she looks like a Mom smiling down... More

The variety of terrain, the excellent restaurants in the area, and the ski valet services available on the mountain.

This resort is lovely. It is out of the way and very laid back. It has multiple mountains to ski.

Just a fun place to be. Beautiful views of the mountains and lots of celebs on the slopes. Difficult skiing yet you can find enough to ski together even with young children.

Long, long runs at a great pitch, good snow, great lifts, and a fine town.

This is the oldest resort in the nation and had the first chair lift. The tradition is unbeatable and the setteing is perfect. The lower altitude has less of an effect on the head and the snow making system suppliments below average snow. The temps are usually much warmer than most resorts and the sun is usually out.

The mountain is great, but the restaurants and bars in town are excellent and easy to gte to. Plus, the people are friendly and helpful.
