Why Ski Winterplace Ski Resort

Winterplace is a wonderful resort for learning to ski, with wide beginner trails found all over the mountain. Even from the top at 1,097 m you can cruise a gentle green all the way down to the bottom. Experienced skiers and snowboarders will find a handful of black runs and a terrain park to keep them occupied, but this isn’t the place for experts. Snow cannons cover all of the slopes at Winterplace, so even when the white stuff doesn’t fall naturally this resort stays open for skiing. Ski-in/ski-out condos and forest cabins are available to rent here plus you’ll find lots of hotel options in Beckley, just a 30-minute drive away.

3. Timberline Mountain

Why Ski Timberline Mountain

Until recently Timberline was looking at an uncertain future, but much to the relief of its fans the resort is reopening with massive renovations thanks to its new owners. It’ll feature a brand new high-speed six-passenger chairlift for a swift journey to the summit, along with an upgraded snowmaking operation and redesigned base area. The terrain here is far better suited to confident skiers and snowboarders than first-timers, but there is a learning area and rental shop to cater for newbies. You can stay right next to the slopes in self-catered condos or larger vacation homes, while in the nearby town of Davis there’s affordable hotel rooms and award-winning beer at Stumptown Ales brewery!

With more than half of the ski terrain classed as beginner to intermediate, it’s easy to keep everyone on slopes they can manage. And when you’re ready to put your new skills to the test the black runs are ready and waiting! Trails are groomed every night to keep them in tip-top condition for smooth skiing, plus there’s an outdoor ice-skating rink, indoor pool with hot tub, and arcade games room for off-slope entertainment. Accommodation options here include hotel rooms and suites in the base area lodge, along with cosy mountain cabins and family-size cottages.

But the skiing is just one side of the experience here, because in the village you’ll find highly-rated restaurants, lively bars and even a nightclub to keep you entertained off the slopes. And for a day off from skiing you’ve got an eight-lane tubing park, snowmobile tours, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and a hunting cabin escape room to try!
