4.6

With 4 mountain faces to explore and 80% snowmaking coverage, Mount Snow is perfect for those looking for a large Vermont ski experience with great slopeside options for accommodations. Just 2.5 hours drive from Boston or 4 hours from New York City, getting the Explorer season pass also gives you access to 7 resorts in the Northeast including Mount Snow.

Best month to go

Mid-January to mid-February

Best time to visit Mount Snow is mid-January to mid-February after there has been some decent snowfall. Avoid President's Week because all of New England is off from school and families tend to take holiday then, resulting in crowded trails and long lift lines.

Find accommodations around here

For beginners

Lucky for beginners there are learn-to-ski areas on the Main Face including 5 long beginner cruisers, which is perfect for beginners to stay in one area! Some green runs go from summit to base and offer an amazing view. Our beginner favorite is the Long John. It's the longest run at Mount Snow at 3 mi to get plenty of ski time before waiting in the lift line again!

For intermediates

Intermediates can easily find their trails all over the two mountain faces Main Face and Sunbrook. There are a few runs at North Face but it is mainly dominated by black runs. On the Main Face, Canyon is nice and wide, great for carving out your turns but challenging enough to keep you entertained!

For experts

All the ungroomed black diamond trails in Mount Snow are at North Face. This area is good for expert snowboarders but expert skiers may find it a little boring to be skiing the same ungroomed expert trails repeatedly. Going into the trees would spice things up a little. Snowboarders should also check out the terrain parks at Carinthia!

Find freshies

The freshies at Mount Snow can be found in the glades on Northface. They don't get tracked out quickly because this mountain face is the least crowded.

Ditch the crowds

Everyone wants to get on the Bluebird Express for the heated, 6 chair bubble lift which takes you from the base to the summit, so the areas around there will be crowded. You can avoid crowds by going to Sunbrook since it's set a little off from the main resort and Northface because it's ungroomed and extremely challenging.

Non skiers

Mount Snow offers endless activities to keep non-skiers entertained all day. There is dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tubing, shopping and a full-service spa on site.

Families

Mount Snow is a great resort for families with plenty of cruiser trails for the family to ski together. If the family members have different ski levels, there is also plenty of varied terrain for everyone. Lodging is not a problem for families here at Mount Snow with options that can accommodate large or small family groups. Childcare facilities, a ski school and plenty of non-skiing activities are available too.

Mt Snow has been my go-to for years. The main mountain has great rolling intermediate runs, but what I really love are the jumps and the halfpipe at Carinthia! Always an incredible time.... More

Mount Snow has a great park system and good skiing. There is something for everyone. They also do a good job taking care of the trails. There are also great resturants in the area. People are very friendly too. What it lacks is a nightlife. ... More

Great resort easily accessible off the highway after a short drive. First real mountain you get to in Vermont. Everything pretty easy to figure out and most of the mountain feeds to one or two spots which is great for families.... More

Mount Snow is my absolute favorite place out of all the options in the northeast. I live just a few towns over so it doesn't take me long to get there. I must say though, for people traveling from places further away, there's so many fantastic hotels and restaurants all over the area. Mount Snow staff has been 100% professional and fun, positive... Great mountain for the entire family. We have season passes and close enough to CT to make it a good regular there and back is completely do able. Also plenty of inns and hotels at a reasonable price during winter months.
