Overall
While it can't compete with the other big name resorts in Colorado, Powderhorn serves up some decent skiing and is popular amongst locals of Grand Junction. Sitting on top of the world's largest flat-topped mountain, the terrain here is mostly suited for beginners and intermediates, although there steep tree skiing and boulder fields which provide plenty of fun. The low key resort has an Old West vibe and makes for a perfect stop if you're passing through Grand Junction or headed to Utah.

Powderhorn is an awesome local favorite for the people of Grand Junction. It is easily accessible if you live in Grand Junction, but quite a haul from the Front Range. That being said, Powderhorn is rarely packed and offers great snow with awesome tree skiing through aspens.... Moreadvanced skier

Powderhorn is actually surprising for quality riding. Not the steepest but typically is a ride on for fast laps and fun terrain. The park crew does pretty good for what they have to work with and the food is fair priced and pretty good. The pizza is the best and they have great beer specials. Go to Blink Diner in the town the road. Best happy hour... Moreexpert snowboarder

Great tree skiing that allows you to find many variables lines from tight tees all the way to open Boulder fields. It can be challenging trees on the west side where you must plan ahead constantly, or it can be mellow trees where you can surf with carelessness in the air!... Moreexpert skier

With the addition of the new ski lift (couple of season now) Powderhorn is a great ski area. We have had season passes for 5 seasons now and really enjoy it. Snow is great, the staff friendly and it's close. Perfect hill for an adventure! ... Moreintermediate skier

Not the best snow always, but it's a decent small resort. They take advantage of being the only resort in the area, passes are overpriced. But it has great power when it snows.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Big mountain skiing at local mountain prices. Short lift lines and great terrain keep everyone happy on a powder day. The west side lift is old and slow, but delivers the goods. Great place!
