A wonderfully powdered palace of fun! The runs are long, fun, and adventurous. I'd love to go back and spend a season exploring it, but it's so hard when Japan has so many amazing places to explore.
The overcrowded mainstream resorts are great, but it's always good to keep an eye out for the "off the beaten track" ones too.

Great mountain and amazing snow quality! Very dry and powdery conditions are frequent in this Iwate resort. It offers a few hotels with good onsen and good food. Some of the least used trails are in a smaller peak served by an old double lift! Worth a try for the good snow they have! Accessibility is not the main point here, cause it's a bit far... More

Yeah, APPI it's a great place. It's got just about everything you need, but you'll have to pay for it. Really good runs, but don't veer off the beaten track because they have cameras installed under the lifts and the snow patrol (no pun intended) will be on you faster than goose shit through a tin funnel.
