Overall
One of the closest ski resorts to the San Francisco Bay Area, Sugar Bowl is also one of the best ski resorts in Lake Tahoe. Sitting at the top of Donner Peak sees the resort receive some of the highest snowfall in the region and since its rather isolated, there are fewer crowds and shorter lift lines. It offers a good mix of terrain including easy to access back and side country. Ski-in/ski-out accommodation is available but nearby Truckee or Tahoe City have plenty of options too.

A little bit off the beaten path from the other resorts, but definitely worth the trip since it's one of the few places that can lay any honest claim to "the best snow in Tahoe". Smallish but still a great variety of terrain for everyone and plenty of time to enjoy it since there's no crowds.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

Best resort for your value...and no lines. The staff is amazing and it has well maintained terrain for all levels. Very family oriented, but still have all the terrain off piste to excite those expert skiers!!!... Moreexpert skier

Sugar Bowl is a hidden Tahoe gem. Truly a skiers mountain, this old school resort is a throwback to the simpler days of skiing. If you're looking for $20 espresso martinis by the fire in the lodge this isnt the mountain for you. But if you want more snow and less crowds then Sugar Bowl is your spot!... Moreadvanced skier

When ever I visit my hometown of Sacramento, I like to go to Sugar Bowl for the access and the availability of good consistent skiing conditions. Mt Lincoln is a good warm up for Mt Disney and I absolutely cant get enough of this mountain when I am there. Despite the crowds of families near the main lodge, you wont have to worry about massive... Moreadvanced skier

Sugarbowl resort is a great place to snowboard and ski. Just off of i80 it's an easy drive to get to. All of the staff are friendly and helpful no matter what's the situation. Nice and wide open especially after opening up the new lift a few years ago. I would recommend this place to anyone from beginners to advance riders. Superb!5 / 5Oct 09, 2017

Atop Donner Pass, a mere three hour drive from the hustle and bustle of the SF Bay Area sits one of the more conveniently located Tahoe resorts. But convenience isn't all Sugarbowl has to offer. The entirety of the mountain area sits high on the Sierra Crest making for excellent snow conditions that are consistent across the whole mountain.... MoreSuperb!5 / 5Oct 09, 2017

My visit at sugar bowl was so much fun, it's has alot of fun runs where you can smash down with your squad or cut away and find a line that catches your eye. All in all it was a great boarding trip.
