Overall

3.4

A 2-3 hour drive from New York City, Belleayre has a good separation between lower and upper mountain for different skill levels. Overall the mountain is a good place for beginners and intermediates with not as challenging terrain as Hunter Mountain although more than enough to keep you entertained for a day or two. The facilities are a bit old but decent and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed.

I love Belleayre! It rarely has crowds compared to nearby Windham and Hunter. It has much to offer for every ability. This mountain definitely has the best value of all upstate NY. And it has a gondola!... More

Belleayre is the best Mountian in the area! Great set up for beginners at the bottom and keeps the more advanced skier/rider near the top of the mountian. The new gondola is a great addition and allows families of all abilities to gather in one spot. It is also fairly price and you can find a few discount days through out the year. Crowds on... More

Fun spot close to the city which is both good and bad. Great for a day trip. If you've got a weekend drive further north. Nice laid back ridge skiing perfect for the odd day off in the middle of the week. Top 500 vert of the ridge is a fun pitch, the remaining 800 -900 vert is less interesting run off.... More

Best family friendly resort less than 2 hours from NYC. State run facilities so there is not a lot to offer. They have a driveable mid mountain lodge. Advance, intermediate, and beginner trails are separated from each other. Lacking in facilities, separated skipled trails and the fact that 2 other mountains nearby male Belleayre the ideal place to... More

Belleayre is owned by New York state and is basically a day trip mountain located in the heart of the Catskills. It has about 1400 feet of vertical and a nice mix of trails with some decent blacks and nice blues. Great deals during the week and it holds the some nicely for the Catskills. This year they are installing a new top to bottom Gondola.... More

The absolute best in eastern tree skiing south of albany. When enough snow, and that's from xmas to end of season, any path to the bottom through the woods is uncrowded, challenging, heaven.

It's a really cool mountain, especially for being so close to a bunch of cities, but unfortunately because of that it often gets pretty crowded. The accommodations are great but it's not really my favorite place to go.
