Overall

4

Roughly 4 hours drive from New York City, Gore Mountain is a large New York ski resort with a wide range of terrain including wide pistes to carve on and fun trees to weave through. The resort is rarely very crowded and has a more laid-back atmoshpere than nearby Whiteface. It's perfect for a relaxing getaway with family, but those looking for nightlife should look elsewhere.

Overall I'd say Gore is the best resort to learn to ski and snowboard at in NY. The snow makers and groomers always do an excellent job of keeping the trails pristine despite battling the notorious ice coast winters. Some of the more hidden trails will make you feel like you're off in your own wilderness. There are all types of runs from beginner... More

There is a nice variety of Chairlifts at the 7 distinct mountain areas that you can avoid the crowds if you want. Glade skiing for those who enjoy it is top-notch. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself every time I have been... More
