The Akakura Onsen ski area and village has the most restaurants and bars than the other Kogen villages. They have a phenomenal English speaking staff and child care is easily accessible for parents looking to enjoy the mountain without their kids.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Akakura Onsen was the nicest Resort in Hakuba in my opinion. The resort staff were very pleasant and hospitable to all of our needs including bathroom and laundry amenities. It was located perfectly near our favourite eat out and the surrounding snow was to die for.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

This resort is one of the most beautiful I have been to. I have snowboarded in Canada, Italy and Australia and no other resort has been as accomodating or helpful as Akakura's. The onsen is lovely addition as well and adds to the atmosphere.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Such a great quiet family friendly resort. Great for kids and mum and dad. Kanko is tight next to it and two more resorts within 15 minutes bus trip. Then there is seki Onsen half.and hour away for the ungroomed powder days and madarao 45mins away for another powder adventure. Nozawa Onsen is a little trickier but doable via bus and train...I did 7... Moreadvanced snowboarder

This is a great resort. Quiet and quaint and with some of the best powder runs on Mt Suginohara connected to the lifts at Akakura.
Terrain is wide and varied and accommodates all levels. Lifts are fast and modern and place was relatively empty ver the new year which in theory should be he busiest time of the season.... Moreintermediate snowboarder

Akakura is such a peaceful place with a nice vibe too it, and the amazing views of the mountains in the distance, would die to come back here.
I need to clear my mind. It's a must to revisit.... Morebeginner skier

A beautiful resort. Definitely in a prime location and had great friendly staff. I would recommend this resort to both beginner and advance boarders and skiiers. I myself am an intermediate boarder and there was definitely challenging runs far beyond my capability.... Moreintermediate snowboarder
