Overall

4.8

Welcome to the Wild West of the ski world! Mountain resorts don’t get much more badass than Jackson Hole, home to the infamous Corbet’s Couloir, along with more chutes, cliffs, moguls, and steeps than you could shake a stick at. The terrifying terrain here goes hand-in-hand with the resort’s burly atmosphere, it’s a corner of Wyoming where the soul of the old west is alive and well! Totaling up an impressive 4,139 ft of vertical drop, Jackson Hole has the longest continuous vertical of any ski resort in the US, with many slopes consistently following the fall line.

Best month to go

January and February

If you’re the kind of skier that digs deep snow and stormy days then the best time to go is just before Christmas, or hold on for February and early March, though be prepared to layer up. Keep an eye on the weather charts, because if you see a storm tracking southeast from Canada or the Pacific Northwest it’s a sure bet that Jackson Hole will get walloped with fresh white stuff. For those of you who aren’t huge fans of the bitter cold, it might be worth holding off on your Jackson Hole ski vacation until March properly kicks in. By the middle of this springtime month it’s reliably warmer and bluebird days are much more common. The snow season usually wraps up after the first week of April, and you can expect the resort to open by the end of November.

For beginners

You won't find a ton of beginner terrain at Jackson Hole, however, there's a handful of wide green slopes that's perfect for practicing! On the Apres Vous side of the mountain check out the area above the Bridger Center or take on some quiet beginner slopes like Lower Teewinot and around Solitude Mid-Station.

More beginners tips

For intermediates

There are a range of intermediate trails, though be warned they're generally steeper than other resorts! Werner, Moran, and Upper Teewinot are all quieter slopes and have a decent gradient to speed through! Best part is, this area is great for trying out tree skiing and jumping back onto the groomers if you need to!

More intermediates tips

For experts

Hardcore skiers are in for a real treat at Jackson Hole. Hike along the Headwall to the Caspar Bowl gates and try one of the Shots, for a true backcountry experience (but still inbounds)! The powder-filled Hobacks are another spot not to be missed!

More experts tips

Find freshies

For some of the world's best inbounds powder skiing, the Hobacks is where it's at. The powder here is deep, but be sure to get here early before the sun turns it into sludge!

Ditch the crowds

Avoid the Amphitheater blue run, it's a designated slow zone and a real bottleneck that sees skiers of all levels.

Non skiers

Non-skiers can still have fun in Jackson Hole with the activities available like dog sledding, winter wildlife safaris, art galleries and more to keep them occupied.

Families

While the slopes at Jackson Hole might deter beginners, the resort actually has a great kids ski school program. Off-slopes there are tons of activities and attractions to enjoy including a wildlife safari through the Grand Teton National Park. The town of Jackson also has budget-friendly accommodation than Teton Village.
