Big ski resort in Yamagata. Easiest way to get here is via Sendai or Yamagata city. It has trails for all levels, beginner to pros (with steeps and moguls). A phenomenal hidden gem that is fantastic for beginner riders that want to immerse themselves in the Japanese culture. Zao onsen is a smaller mountain with beautiful scenery and you still get plenty of powder to play in! The lift lines are short and the staff is amazing. Definitely would recommend a trip there....
