Overall

4.5

Whiteface is known for its gnarly expert terrain and has even hosted the Winter Olympics not once but twice! It has the second-largest vertical drop in the East and while its black diamonds are quite the drawcard for advanced skiers, beginners will be pretty happy with their dedicated area. The upper mountain can suffer from wind exposure and while sometimes the lack of snowfall and poor snow quality can be questionable, there is extensive snowmaking on 99% of its trails (besides The Slides and The Glades). There is no accommodation at the base of the mountain so make your way over to Lake Placid after a day on the slopes.
