Overall

4.3

The only real ski destination in New Mexico, Taos' steep slopes and fun backcountry are a haven for advanced and expert skiers. On the other hand, beginners and freestylers might be disappointed by the lack of variety here. Regardless of the weather conditions, the resort generally holds powder well and will have good packed snow in between storms. Just note, there are tons of cliff zones all over the mountain so don't cut the ropes.

With the addition of the kachina lift Taos has opened up area's of the mountain that used to be only accessible with a 45 min thigh burning hike. Definitely world class! The planned West ridge lift will do more of the same. Bravo, Taos ski valley!... More

Taos SkiValley is a great family friendly ski area that gets plenty of early season snow but really needs a 100 inch base to ski everything . It has runs for everyone but has more advanced and Expert terain. The Town of Taos is cool.... More

Taos: The skiers mountain. Not just for experts, but never disappoints them. The mountain provides thrills for all levels and all ages. The ski school is among the best anywhere. If you are willing to throw your boards on your back and hike, you'll enjoy some of the BEST. TERRAIN. EVER.

I've never skied it. We visited this summer, my boys and I instantly fell in love!! We would really enjoy a chance to make some more memories at this beautiful place.

Great mountain with a lot of options! There are some fantastic tree runs that will please any intermediate to advanced skier, and some better left to the advanced. Lots of groomer options and space to spread out. I really dig the hill, but the locals leave a lot to be desired. There were a lot of crabby locals floating around, and most workers... More

Definitely one of the most memorable mountains I've boarded. Very unique in a lot of different ways. From the parking lot shuttles to the intensity of the first lift (which hails a large sign that reads 'Don't Panic' just before you get on). Glad they added a lift to Kachina Peak. Can't wait to get back out there!

Actuallly all of the choices fit. I like the No Snowboards and great Terrain and snow conditions. It is not an overrun Vail celebrity big buck atmosphere and retains its southwest Atmosphere.

Terrain is no. 1, but Taos is also close to our home in Texas and our condo in Angel Fire, NM. I don't mind snowboarders, but we don't have any boarders in the family, so the skiers only rule does not affect us. I also like the relative lack of glitz at Taos.
